Finding Beauty in the Depths - Positive Art with Meaning.

Some paintings arrive easily, flowing from a place of joy and lightness. Others come from somewhere deeper, more complex. 'Dancing in the Depths' is one of those pieces.
I painted this during a season when things felt heavier than usual. Life wasn't quite as bright, and I found myself reaching for richer, moodier colours—deep teals, blues, hints of lime green peeking through the darkness. The painting grew slowly, built with hundreds of layers of paint, each one adding depth and complexity to what came before.
As I worked, the title came to me - 'Dancing in the depths'. It's about moving forward even when things aren't quite right. It's about finding beauty in the darker moments, in the mundane, in all those layers of life that make us who we are. Joy doesn't only exist in the bright seasons. Sometimes it's found in the small things, in the quiet resilience of keeping going, in the grace of allowing ourselves to feel deeply.
The petals in this painting sweep and flow with organic movement, creating rhythm and dance even within the weight of darker tones. There's life here, energy, emotion. But it's held within something more contemplative, more grounded. It feels real in a way that purely bright work sometimes can't.
I hope this piece brings a sense of permission into your space. Permission to not always be bright. Permission to sit with complexity while still finding wonder. Permission to dance even when the music is quieter. Life is layered, and those layers—the hard ones and the beautiful ones—are what make it rich and meaningful.
If you've been in the depths lately, I hope this painting reminds you that beauty still exists there. That movement is possible. That you can dance your way through, one small step at a time.
