'Taking Flight' — The Original Oil Painting Born From Learning To Trust The Leap
Share
Some paintings arrive with a message so clear that it feels less like creating and more like receiving. 'Taking Flight' was one of those.
I painted this during a season when I was learning something that doesn't come easily to me — how to move forward without having all the answers. How to trust the process even when I couldn't see the whole path. How to let go of the need for certainty and just take the leap anyway.

The colours came first, as they often do. Yellow — for the joy and light that felt just out of reach but always present. Blue — for the trust I was learning to find. Green — for the sense of new beginnings, of growth, of everything that becomes possible when you finally stop waiting for the right moment and just go.
I worked quickly and freely with this one — expressive brushwork sweeping across the canvas, one layer building on another until the whole piece felt alive with movement and momentum. There was a point in the making of it when something shifted and I felt it — that particular feeling of a painting taking flight on its own. Of colour and energy moving together in a way that feels bigger than the sum of its parts.
'Taking Flight' is hope art in the truest sense. Not wishful or passive — but active, courageous and full of forward momentum. Original artwork for anyone who is building something, becoming someone, or standing on the edge of a leap they know they need to take.

It is a one of a kind original oil painting — there is only ever one. Painted on canvas board in professional quality oils, signed by hand, professionally varnished and framed in a beautiful white wood float frame, 50x50cm and ready to hang.
