The Story Behind 'Coastal Calm' — One of my favourite 2 print sets

Some pairings just make sense. Two pieces that were always meant to hang together, telling a story that neither could quite tell alone. That's exactly what 'Coastal Calm' is — my most loved set of 2 prints, bringing together 'Beyond The Shore' and 'Bramble Bush Bay Shores' in one beautiful coastal collection.

Both pieces were inspired by the Dorset coast — a place that has given me more creative inspiration than anywhere else in the world. There's something about this particular stretch of coastline that gets under your skin. The way the light moves across the water. The stillness of Poole bay on a calm morning. The energy of the waves when the tide is up and the sea is doing something extraordinary.

'Bramble Bush Bay Shores' captures the still side of the coast — soft duck egg blues, sandy creams and gentle teal, meditative and deeply peaceful. It's the feeling of standing at the water's edge on a calm evening and just breathing. 'Beyond The Shore' brings a little more movement — pale blues and creamy tones sweeping across the composition with darker teal building in the breaking wave, inspired by the many happy walks I did at Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Spit when the children were little.
