Turning Emotion Into Art - There's a Painting I Made From a Dark Season - And Then I Made It Into Something Else.

Sometimes a piece of art carries so much meaning that it deserves to live in more than one way.
'Dancing in the Depths' has always been one of my most emotionally honest paintings. I created it during a season when life felt heavy and complex, and I found myself reaching instinctively for rich, moody blues and layered teals. What surprised me was how alive those colours felt — how much movement and grace existed even within the depth. That painting taught me something important: beauty doesn't only belong to the bright seasons.
But recently I found myself looking at those sweeping forms differently. That flowing momentum, those powerful strokes pushing upward and forward — I started to see not just depth, but ascent. Not just complexity, but courage. And 'Rising Through' was born.
This diptych takes the original painting and presents it as two beautifully connected panels — a continuous composition that flows with real energy and intention across the wall. The rich teals and deep blues remain, layered and alive, but now the story feels forward-facing. It's about vision. Growth. That grounded, purposeful confidence of someone who has been through something and come out the other side still moving, still rising.
I created this for the women who are building something — not recklessly, but with real purpose and heart. The ones who hold a clear vision for their future and meet each day with quiet determination. The ones who know that growth isn't always loud, but it's always happening.
Hung as a pair, 'Rising Through' creates an extraordinary presence. The two panels work together to fill a wall with movement and depth, drawing the eye across the composition and creating that sense of forward momentum every single time you look up.
This is art that doesn't just decorate. It reminds you of who you are and where you're going.
