Finding Freedom Through Colour – The Story Behind ‘Taking Flight’
Share
There’s something about painting movement that feels like painting emotion. When I created ‘Taking Flight’, I wanted to capture that exact moment of release — when you finally trust yourself enough to leap.
It began with a feeling rather than a plan. I was reflecting on times when change felt uncertain but necessary — those in-between spaces where you’re not quite where you were, but not yet where you’re going. I reached for colours that felt like possibility: soft greys, gentle blush tones, touches of yellow gold and white. As they layered and blended, the piece seemed to lift off the canvas all on its own — light, flowing, free.
I think that’s what art does best. It mirrors those unseen parts of us — the hopes, the fears, the quiet strength it takes to grow. ‘Taking Flight’ became a reminder to trust the process, both on the canvas and in life.
Now, seeing it as a fine art print feels like sharing that message with others — that sense of calm courage, of letting your heart lead. Whether it hangs in a hallway that greets you every morning or a peaceful corner where you rest at night, my hope is that it inspires you to keep moving forward, even gently, one breath at a time.
Because sometimes, the most beautiful journeys begin the moment we let go.
