The Joy of Colour — The Story Behind ‘Colours of the Field’
Share
There’s something deeply life-affirming about standing in a sunlit field, surrounded by wildflowers swaying in the breeze. The world feels alive — full of energy, light, and movement. That moment of pure joy inspired my painting ‘Colours of the Field’.
I wanted to capture not just how a meadow looks, but how it feels — that instant when colour and sunlight merge into something almost musical. Using oils, I layered vibrant pinks, oranges, yellows, and hints of duck egg blue to express that exuberance, that sense of being fully present in nature’s beauty.
Painting this piece felt like pure joy in motion. Each brushstroke became a rhythm — a heartbeat of colour and freedom. The energy of the meadow flowed onto the canvas, becoming a dance of warmth and light.
For me, ‘Colours of the Field’ is a reminder that joy doesn’t have to be loud or fleeting — it can be found in the quiet moments of noticing, of standing still in awe at the beauty around us. I hope this painting brings a little of that feeling into your space — a daily reminder to embrace colour, light, and life in all its brightness.
