The Stillness of the Sea — The Story Behind ‘Bramble Bush Bay Shores’
Share
There’s a unique kind of magic in the stillness of a summer morning by the sea — the quiet hum of nature before the day begins, when the water is smooth as glass and the world feels at peace. It’s that fleeting, sacred calm that inspired ‘Bramble Bush Bay Shores’.
I wanted to capture not the detail of the shore, but the feeling — that soft exhale of quiet when you’re standing alone at the water’s edge, watching gentle ripples catch the light. Painted in oils, this piece allowed me to blend colours seamlessly: sandy creams melting into duck egg blue, white light touching teal on the horizon.
The painting is abstract in form but grounded in emotion — a reflection of how it feels to connect deeply with nature. I love how these gentle tones can transform a space, bringing calm and clarity to any room they grace.
Whenever I look at this piece, I’m reminded to pause — to breathe, to be still, to notice the small, beautiful moments that often go unseen. My hope is that ‘Bramble Bush Bay Shores’ offers that same sense of peace to whoever welcomes it into their home.
