Joy Looks Good On You — The Painting That Started It All
There are paintings that arrive gently, and paintings that arrive with something to say. ‘Joy Looks Good On You’ is very firmly in the second category.
This is the first piece in my ‘Joy by Design’ collection — and it came from somewhere genuinely personal. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about joy. Not the easy kind that shows up when life is going well and the sun is shining and everything feels possible. The other kind. The kind you have to go looking for. The kind you have to choose, deliberately and on purpose, especially on the days when it feels furthest away.
So I painted it. I reached for the colours I associate most with joy — vivid singing pinks, soft blues that lift, warm peachy tones, luminous whites — and I let them move across the canvas with as much freedom and energy as I could manage. No overthinking. No holding back. Just colour, moving with complete intention.
What surprised me most was how calm the finished piece felt underneath all that vibrancy. Because that’s the thing about real joy — when you find it, it doesn’t feel frantic. It feels warm and settled and quietly, deeply good.
‘Joy Looks Good On You’ is painted in acrylics on canvas, with free expressive brushstrokes full of movement, energy and light. It’s the kind of piece that lifts the room it lives in — and reminds you, every single day, that joy is always available. You just have to reach for it.
This lovely piece is the original - it is unframed but you can have to opt it framed in a float frame with 3 colour choices. Whether framed or unframed it will be signed, varnished and ready to hang!
