'Towards Brownsea' Original Artwork - Dorset Painting Seascape Poole Harbour -'Towards Brownsea' is original artwork for anyone who knows this view — or who feels the pull of it even if they've never stood there. It's for the one who finds something deeply restorative in wide, still water, in the quiet silhouette of an old jetty stretching into the mist, in a lone yacht sitting perfectly still in a harbour that seems to be holding its breath. This Dorset painting is for anyone who carries Poole Harbour in their heart.

Evening Hill is one of my favourite places in the whole of Dorset. The view from there is extraordinary — breathtaking and peaceful and somehow different every single time. On the particular morning that inspired this painting, everything was still. The water was a pale, luminous blue-grey, the Purbeck Hills barely visible through the haze, Brownsea Island emerging on the right like something half-dreamed. Some views ask to be painted not just as landscapes but as feelings — and this is one of those.

I painted this in a limited palette of soft indigo and warm neutral tones, with the palest, most luminous blues capturing that particular quality of still harbour light. The restrained palette was a deliberate choice — this is a painting that whispers rather than shouts, and I wanted it to feel as still and contemplative as the view itself. Woven throughout are delicate touches Pale Gold bronze powder — a lovely material that moves with the light in a way that ordinary paint cannot, catching the warmth of the morning and glimmering softly as the day changes. Please note the gold elements are sensitive to moisture and are best displayed in a dry room.

This is a one of a kind original oil painting on stretched canvas, 30x80cm, 3.5cm deep, unframed and ready to hang with D-ring hooks and picture wire. It is part of the Shimmering Shores collection — Dorset in monochrome and gold.
